Performance: Dance & Acting

My name is Kelly Midlane, I am 17 years old and I am from Harare, Zimbabwe, currently studying my AS levels at Chisipite Senior School. Since I was a little girl, Acting and Dancing professionally has been my passion and dream. These two hobbies have become my life. I strive to make sure every day is filled with either Acting or Dancing and live by the saying “the world is your stage”. They allow me to put a smile on people’s faces and let me evoke emotions in people that they may have never felt before.

Since the age of 8 I have been involved in various Community plays and Dancing shows. I have received many Honours and High Grades in the NNIA Speech and Drama Festival, I received medals for my dancing performances and I have won 2 trophies for most outstanding performance and best actress. At the age of 12, I began working for my dance teachers as an assistant and through this I have taught under privileged kids, dance and have assisted being Master of Ceremonies at large Corporate events, been part of film projects and most importantly been able to bring Dance and Drama back into the Community of Zimbabwe. In 2016 I went on dance tour to Malawi to bring back the culture that they were deprived of. I have also danced in international shows such as HIFA. Since the age of 13 I have choreographed for many shows at our theatre and schools. I believe in using dance and drama to help spread important messages and have been lucky enough to work with organisations such as the Abused Woman’s Rights in Zimbabwe and the Indian Women’s Rights Society. At the moment I am working on my singing abilities and it is rapidly becoming another great passion of mine. Dancing and acting is in my blood, heart and soul and I could not imagine my life without them.
